I’m crying Yall… I’m crying Yall, I said, I’m crying Yall…. STAND TALL and salute HISTORY. It’s all becoming clear to me, this moment is very heartfelt and dear to me – to us all. I can’t believe my eyes. Is this a dream, I ask myself? Dr. King had a dream. Did he know that a dream could become HISTORY? “I’ve been to the mountaintop”, is what he said. From this point on, his dying in vain must stop! ”
A change has come, brothers and sisters of America, a change has come. Stand one, stand all. United, without it, we will be divided. I can’t believe my eyes, my hands tremble as I type this, and I write this, as the words flow through my mind. Is this really happening, I ask myself again? We were told that we would never see this day, but yet…. We have.
It’s time, its time to make a change; its time, its time to make a difference, its time to take a stand. It’s time to show that this historic moment is not in vain.
“I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.” Martin L. King Jr.
Bloodstains and chains; whips, welts, bruises and mental scars, our ancestors were hung, traded and laid to rest without a proper grave and oppressed. “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.” Martin L. King Jr.
People before us walked the paths of hardship to get us to this day. Picking cotton, dying in the heat, feeding off of their slave master’s dinner plate or maybe not eating at all. The cries of rape, but not being heard, we grin and bare it. The hymns of slave that became Negro spirituals, we sing alone with tears. The flashbacks of yesterday, is what got us here today. ”And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land! So I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man.” Martin L. King Jr.”
Imagine having no name or no place in life, but still be able to take a stand and be strong. Hope. Many have died for this day - sweat, blood and tears as they marched and protested. They, our ancestors and civil rights leaders, fought for the right to vote, ride buses, drive their own cars, eat at counters, get an education…. just be free, FREE! What does this mean to me? What does this mean to you? Reverend King, Dr. King, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream; I said he had a dream! Now a dream has become HISTORY! ” I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” Martin L. King Jr.
Barack Obama is our President, our 44th President and the first Black President of the United States of America. Barack Obama, has opened a door that shall forever remain open, let freedom ring! Mr. Barack Obama, excuse me, President Barack Obama; he is the making of a great leader, but he can’t do this alone, because the trail of corruption is far too much for one man to bear. He needs an army, he needs us to care, he needs us to share, he needs our participation, and he needs us there, with him. No weapons form. He needs an army, non-violently. He needs army of troopers, foot soldiers, not troops, because as we all know, our troops are exhausted. Like, people use to say, it take a village to raise a child, well it’s going to take a village to make this happen.
We have to take the knots out of the world, we have to unravel it, piece by piece, for it took far too many years, for this ball of confusion to be created. Please understand, we must all lend a hand. Let’s stop the suffering; lets take a stand, stand tall with determination, like never before. Sometimes we’re only given one chance. Some want us to fail, before we even have a chance to try. United States, or does it mean US, standing together; every race, religion, color and creed. We need to understand that it shouldn’t stop today, because history has been made today. Don’t just say it, just do it! But do it together! US means us, as a people. Let’s celebrate this historic day together. The first day of change, together. Starting with the man or woman in the mirror. We are ONE!
